ABOUT Centre de jeu
The centre de jeu is a movement structured by a simple and radical intention: to build a logic of thought and action from play.
Beyond its entertaining or utilitarian form, play is considered here in its mechanical dimensions, through the dynamics of structure, movement, interaction and relation.
The centre de jeu today brings together 11 members with multidisciplinary practices (visual arts, teaching, graphic design, research, architecture, design, typography, didactics, pedagogy, computer science) around a shared expertise: the design of play systems.
It is organised around two fundamental rules:
- to support each member in their play practice by valuing their work and expertise;
- to design transformative play experiences that allow the co-creation of play-based tools for reading and acting on the world.
Currently itinerant, the centre de jeu occupies spaces to temporarily transform their modes of interaction and modulation.
The centre de jeu seeks to make possible the physical and symbolic experience of the balances and tensions inherent to the systems that structure our existence, and to bring out the actionable parameters or frameworks of reflection that set it in motion.
To this end, the centre de jeu offers and develops, alone or with partners:
- play experiences;
- a living collection of games and playful objects;
- exchanges about play, related to the regulation of general play systems (public space, education…);
- projects through play, related to the design of situated play systems (educational devices, local interventions…), two of which are under way with the OpenLab.
