Architecture, Urban Planning, and Gender - Towards Greater Inclusivity in Architecture and Land Use Planning Projects
To mark March 8, International Women's Rights Day, the AIA (Architecture and Architectural Engineering), SUFI (Sustainable Urban Futures Institute), and BATir (Building, Architecture & Town Planning) at the École polytechnique de Bruxelles, in collaboration with WominTech and OpenLab.brussels, are organizing a series of meetings dedicated to the links between architecture, urban planning, and gender.
This cycle aims to integrate issues of inclusivity into design, research, and teaching practices, with an intersectional perspective, i.e., one that is attentive to the multiplicity of forms of exclusion and intersecting relationships of domination (gender, class, origin, age, etc.). These meetings also aim to promote dialogue between the academic, institutional, professional, and associative worlds. Each meeting consists of various presentations, followed by a round table discussion, to encourage the sharing of experiences and the co-construction of knowledge and concrete actions.
The first meeting will address the following topic: "L’inclusivité dans les projets architecturaux liés au logement et au droit à un habitat digne et accessible "
Presentation of the project "Housing issues and historical overview of the struggles to guarantee equitable access to affordable housing"
Presentation of the project "GANDHI: Karbon architecture and urban planning"
Round table discussion
