PolyCIVIS is an EU-funded Jean Monnet Network bringing together 21 universities across Africa and Europe to advance joint interdisciplinary research, education, and policy dialogue on the contemporary polycrisis. Established in 2023, the initiative examines how interconnected economic, social, environmental, and geopolitical crises are reshaping Africa-Europe relations and challenging conventional governance collaborative approaches. It also explores opportunities for more equitable and resilient Africa-Europe partnerships, with particular attention to green industrialisation, renewable energy, climate governance, migration, conflict prevention and peacebuilding, and youth inclusion and employment. Through joint research, policy engagement, capacity building and the development of shared narratives, the network seeks to strengthen the foundations for more coordinated, inclusive and mutually beneficial Africa-Europe cooperation.
The PolyCIVIS Agora Forum will provide a high-level, structured platform for dialogue among leading experts and practitioners from academia, policymaking, civil society, international organisations, youth organisations and other relevant constituencies. Building on selected PolyCIVIS research and policy outputs, the Forum will facilitate critical exchange on the implications of the polycrisis for Africa-Europe relations and identify priorities for future joint research, policy innovation, education and cooperation. The Forum aims to translate evidence and experience into actionable insights and contribute to more effective, forward-looking responses to shared challenges.
