SpecXcraft, which stands for ‘speculative crafting for un/common futures’, is an action-research project in which four associations explore the futures of Brussels using speculative, materialised, embodied and creative methods, based on their respective practices and commitments in the present.
Launched in September 2022, this co-creation project funded by Innoviris is being led by:
- Espèces Urbaines (ULB/LUCA School of Arts), a collective of female researchers committed to developing other forms of interaction between different entities in the city;
- Constant, a not-for-profit organisation exploring the links between technology, the arts and feminism ;
- the Centre Vidéo de Bruxelles, a documentary film production association working on social and urban issues through collective video workshops; and
- Natagora, an association carrying out a wide range of actions in defence of biodiversity.
