Occasional use
Participatory & citizen science projects
OpenLab spaces can be reserved via openlab@ulb.be by ULB and VUB teams conducting projects. As our spaces are in high demand, projects that align with the mission of OpenLab.brussels are reviewed first. To ensure fair planning, reservations follow a biannual request cycle:
- For the period October to end of January, requests must be submitted before 30 September.
- For the period February to end of September, requests must be submitted before 31 January.
Participatory & citizen science projects may still submit applications after these deadlines but will no longer be given priority.
Other projects
If your project is not aligned with our missions, you can still reserve our spaces. However, you may only submit your request by email after the corresponding priority period has passed.
- For the period October to end of January, requests must be submitted after 15 September and will be confirmed on October 1st
- For the period February to end of September, requests must be submitted after 15 January and will be confirmed on February 1st.
For example: if you wish to book a room in March, you may submit your request starting 15 january.
Regular use
Projects collaborating directly with OpenLab may become Hosted Projects. These represent a shared commitment and receive special consideration when organizing the calendar. The Coworking Space (A.1.9) will usually be the room assigned to these projects, but The Mess (A.1.23) is also available upon request
If you are interested in becoming a Hosted Project, you can contact us by email.
Requests should be sent to openlab@ulb.be and ideally include:
- Desired regular time slots (days and hours) - respect the biannual request cycle
- A brief description of the participatory research project (max. 500 words: context, objectives, methodology, expected results)
- Justification for using the Coworking Space (or The Mess)
- List of involved partners and support already obtained (financial or otherwise)
- An illustration or project visual/logo
For the use of other rooms in the Usquare (ABC) building, please refer to this document, which provides all relevant information and booking procedures.
